AllSorts Of Inspiration: The Liquorice Allsort Unravelled

The unique aniseed and sugary fruit flavoured sweet first produced by the UK company, ‘Geo. Bassett & Co. Ltd.’ was thought to have originated after a sample tray of liquorice was dropped by one of their sales reps in 1899. Scattering liquorice randomly over the counter to produce ‘all’ sorts of liquorice pieces, compared to the neatly placed items originally on offer, saw the jumbled mix become a popular favourite.

Allsorts originally had names such as ‘chips’, ‘rocks’, ‘bottoms’, ‘nuggets’, ‘twists’ and ‘plugs’ and are now an eclectic mix of titles, shapes, colours and tastes with a variety of countries around the world producing them.

Our ‘Allsorts’ series of artwork re-imagines the essence of these sweets with vibrant and conceptually bold images that explore the interplay of form, colour and line. By transforming the familiar into a striking and deconstructed visual experience, our images will refresh spaces with a unique, contemporary and innovative aesthetic.
